To get your PWC licence, you must:
- Be the holder of a current NSW general boat licence*
- Successfully complete the PWC licence knowledge test (done at the end of this course)
- Present all completed documents to Roads and Maritime Services (Services NSW) and pay the appropriate licence fee
Before You Attend This Course
You should study the PWC Boating Handbook before attending the course. You can download the handbook using this link. Printed copies are also available from Service NSW and our Pelican base.
It is highly recommended that you practice the exam with the practice test here: https://practicetest.rms.nsw.gov.au/
What To Bring To The Course
Bring photo proof of ID (eg a motor vehicle licence, passport or similar).
Also bring two passport photos (head and shoulders, not smiling). Many post offices are able to provide you with the necessary passport photos. Without photos you CANNOT sit the exam!
You should also bring your current valid boat license.
Ideally bring a pen and a notepad or paper although keep in mind that the exam is a closed-book exam.
If any of the people booked for this workshop are under 16 years of age then they MUST bring along a parent or guardian. That person must also bring proof of ID.
Payment
Payment is by credit card or PayPal when making the booking with Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie. Note that there are no facilities for EFTPOS or credit card at the venue. You cannot pay on the day.
You may cancel or reschedule your booking up until 24 hours before the scheduled time, instructions on how to do so can be found in the confirmation email. Any pre-payments will be refunded in full after cancellation.
What You Will Get
Once you’ve satisfactorily attended the course and passed the test, you will receive endorsement of your “Application For Boat Driving Licence” form (PWC section) section 6. You can take this form to Services NSW to get your PWC licence.
* If you’ve passed the boat licence theory course with us, you can bring the form (Application for Boat Driving Licence) with you to the PWC course without getting the actual licence yet. You can take your boat licence and your PWC licence application forms to Service NSW at the same time.
